Celebrating Our 2026 Art School for Makers Exhibition

Oct 28, 2026

Over the weekend, we gathered for our Art School for Makers virtual exhibition: 14 pieces, 12 artists, and a year of exploration brought into view.

There were embroidered desert blooms, woven fabric, richly layered landscapes, and art you could wear. There was a quilt inspired by an old map cover and a pumpkin embellished with hand embroidery. Each piece gave us a glimpse of what its maker finds beautiful, interesting, or worth paying attention to.

I loved seeing the work together. And before we opened the doors to our wider community, our makers gathered to talk about their journey: what they had tried, what had surprised them, and how their work was becoming more their own.

Those conversations were such a meaningful part of the celebration. Because alongside the finished pieces, there was another kind of progress to recognize: the confidence to follow an idea, to trust a color choice, or to share something publicly for the first time.

Thank you for sharing your work—and for celebrating it

To every exhibiting artist: thank you for the time, curiosity, and care you brought to your work this year. Thank you for trying things, following the ideas that interested you, and letting us see what you created. Sharing your work takes courage, and I am so proud of you.

And to everyone who joined us over the weekend: thank you for showing up to celebrate these makers. Having a community there to look closely, offer encouragement, and applaud matters.

If you missed the live event—or would like another look—you can visit the virtual exhibition and spend some time with the pieces and their artists’ statements.

I hope you leave with an idea you want to try, a detail you want to look at again, or a little more encouragement to follow your own curiosity.
